FSI Pharmacy Management Software

Medi-Span Prior Adverse Reaction Class Retirements
Medi-Span is retiring a few PAR classes which can affect patients who have allergies linked to any of those PAR classes. The affected PAR classes that have multiple ingredients are:

00056 – Calcium Channel Blockers

00155 – Vitamin D Analogs

00209 – Red Dye

To meet the requirement from Medi-Span and to ensure the safety of all patients, a program change has been implemented in the pharmacy software to require the allergy class to be updated or changed to a specific ingredient allergy. If the pharmacy system detects a retired PAR class in a patient’s allergy profile when accessing the patient, the system will go directly to the PRIOR ADVERSE REACTION MAINTENANCE screen and will provide a message with the retired class code identified. It will then be the responsibility of the pharmacy personnel to confirm the appropriate updated allergy code(s) for the patient before filling any new prescriptions for the patient.

Medi-Span is also retiring 11 single ingredient allergy classes. Because there is only one ingredient, the system will automatically switch affected patients from the retired allergy class to the corresponding active ingredient. This will take place when the patient is accessed in the pharmacy system. No action is required by the pharmacy for these one-to-one changes. The 11 single ingredient classes are:

00013 – Cimetidine

00104 – Valproic Acid and Related

00178 – Abacavir

00179 – Benzyl Alcohol

00186 – Efavirenz

00187 – Bupropion

00194 – Metoclopramide

00195 – Lithium

00197 – Cyclosporine

00224 – Isoniazid

00256 – Cobalt.

With these changes, it would be prudent to review each patient’s allergies to confirm all allergies are up to date. Please contact FSI support if you have any questions about these changes.

Inventory By Date Report
The ‘Pack Size Direct Cost’ column was added to this report to show the cost value of the pack on not just the unit.

Medicare Prescription Payment Plan Options
An option was added to be able to print the Medicare ‘Likely to Benefit’ PDF form in English or Spanish if a specific Medicare billing response code is received (56). Instructions are also displayed for how to bill Medicare as the final payor if a response code of (57) is received. A Medicare response code of (58) informs the operator that the patient declined the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan
