In 2014, we introduced a new screen format & size into our software. This new format is known as ‘Enhanced’. With it came many features our customers have requested. Since then, we have been maintaining the previous format, what is known as ‘Legacy’. We are proud of what we were able to accomplish in this smaller format but as with all things, it is time to move forward.
We have some critical announcements and end-of-life dates concerning customers who continue to use our ‘Legacy’ screens in our Pharmacy Management System! If any terminals in your pharmacy still use any ‘Legacy’ screens, please note to the following.
If you are running the ‘Legacy’ screen, you will see the word LEGACY in the center of the top rows while at the main menu of the pharmacy management system. If you see Queues in the bottom left or Messages & Functions on the bottom right of the main menu, you are using the ‘Enhanced’ screens on that terminal. Remember that each terminal may be configured differently. Any workstations using the FSI Client will always be using the ‘Enhanced’ screens.
You can read more about the features provided by the FSI Client and the enhanced screens here.
SureScripts
End-Of-Life on Legacy: January 1st 2020
Every few years, SureScripts releases a new update to their communication method. It required a fairly large re-write, not just for us at FSI but for many in the industry. SureScripts has moved to a new NCPDP standard data format called Script 6.1.
To properly display all the data provided by SureScripts, we had to make the SureScripts update exclusively on the ‘Enhanced’ screens. The far smaller real estate on the ‘Legacy’ screens kept us from being able to format the data in a friendly or usable manner.
SureScripts is disabling all previous versions on January 1st 2020. Because of this, ‘Legacy’ screens will no longer be able to access any SureScripts functionality on or after that date.
Medi-Span Clinical Databases & Functions
End of Life on Legacy: July 1st 2020
Similar to SureScripts, Wolters Kluwer & Medi-Span made some very significant enhancements to their Clinical Database systems, resulting in a large amount of new development for FSI. And again like SureScripts, this new development was only completed on the enhanced screens.
Most states within the U.S. require that pharmacists and/or pharmacy software verify the prescription being filled as safe and valid using various aspects of the patient’s medical history and prescribed information. This includes functions such as Dose-Check, Aller-Check, Cross-Check, Duplicate Therapy, PDEs, etc.
These and any other clinical database functions provided by Medi-Span will no longer work on the ‘Legacy’ screens on July 1st 2020. The ‘Enhanced’ screens will be updated to newer versions of Medi-Span clinical products by this date.
All Legacy Screen Functions
End of Life: January 1st 2021
While many of our latest features developed in the past 5 or so years have only been done to the ‘Enhanced’ screens, we have continued to do critical updates and bug fixes to ‘Legacy’ screens. This will no longer continue after January 1st 2021, when ‘Legacy’ screens will be completely disabled within the pharmacy management system.
If you are still operating on the ‘Legacy’ screens please call our support team at 801-785-7720 or sales team at 1-800-333-0926 to discuss options of upgrading your workstations capable of running the ‘Enhanced’ screens.
