Legacy End-of-Life Info… Again.

As of June 30, 2021, 11:59 PM MT – FSI’s LEGACY software version reached its scheduled end-of-life and was sunsetted.

This FSI Legacy software version is no longer supported as of July 01, 2021, at 12:00 AM.

FSI’s Java Client

FSI developed a Java-based client several years ago. This client gives you graphical capabilities where you can now interact with your software using your keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen monitor.

Some other features include scanning and viewing hard copies or other prescription and patient-related documents; with the ability to print as you view. This also allows you to see the hard copy for the prescription every time the prescription is displayed, with an option to view larger and print. If you are using the electronic or wireless signature capture features, or FSI’s Point-of-Sale, once a prescription is signed you will see a button next to the dispensing when you view the prescription. The button will read “Sign”. You can click this button and view the patient’s pickup signature for that individual dispensing right now! Point-of-Sale, you can also choose your keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen to operate. Making your Point-of-Sale touch screen makes it so much easier to use! With the enhanced Point-of-Sale, one signature is all you need for a credit card purchase and the prescription pickup.

They said Legacy reached its end-of-life, now what?

The FSI Legacy version is truly the foundation of FSI’s legacy. From the beginning, FSI has always been an advocate for and adherent to the needs of the independent/community pharmacy. Along the way, FSI also became a solution for hospital outpatient pharmacies, LTC, compounding, and specialty pharmacies.

The Java client gave FSI all the room we need to move forward and keep up with the ‘big box’ software vendors. Remember, you are NOT a number or a nuisance when you call, or when you need something to help your pharmacy as necessary. FSI’s support staff consists of every person working at FSI, from sales and accounting to account management and customer engagement, but most importantly support and development.

With FSI’s Java Client, you can choose how to view the main pharmacy menu, on the fly! There will be an option to click or you can press F2 while at the main screen. Either of these options will change your screen view from the older text look and feel, to a larger text button feel, to a straight button main menu screen. However you want to view it and use it, the choice is yours!

Another nice feature for the Java Client is the ability to create custom shortcuts to go anywhere in the system. Click’click, you’re there! No more remembering keystrokes for a feature or report you only do once a month, quarterly, or whatever… Maybe it’s a common feature or reports you access several times a day? Create your shortcuts and save time!

Good news!

If you are using the old-school Alphacom program to access your server, you can still use it! The legacy screens won’t function, but you have a great option to use a text-based platform to use the Enhanced version. If you continue with Alphcom, there are some things you need to know:

  • Alphacom is a purchased license, meaning, if you want to use it, it will cost $75.00 per computer. FSI buys the license, then installs and registers it for you.
  • If you upgrade a computer, the Alphacom license from your old computer may not be capable of operating on your new computer. You may need to purchase a new license. This is determined by your Windows version and the version of Alphcom you were previously running.
  • There are no built-in graphical capabilities using Alphacom, but it will use the FSI Enhanced version. The access to your data is all text-based and operated by your keyboard.
  • Alphacom is easy to use. The built-in multi-tasking capabilities let you access up to four screens on your server per workstation.
